Financial Motivational Package Set For The Warriors For 2022 -World Cup Qualifier Against Ethiopia

Zimbabwe's football mother-body, ZIFA (Zimbabwe Football Association), today announced a 'financial motivational package' that has been set aside to be gifted to the 'national team' in the event of a win in the match against Ethiopia being played tomorrow.

The Zimbabwe Senior National Football team the 'Warriors' play against the Desert Foxes of Ethiopia in a crucial World Cup 2022 Group G qualification match that can see the team go on top of the log and remain relevant in the qualifiers.

ZIFA discussed the issue of 'motivating the Warriors' on matches after a disappointing goaless draw against South Africa played on Sunday 03, September, and the financial package is a result of the discussion.

As in ZIFA's media statement, the package was sourced by the 'interim ZIFA fundraising committee', notably, through the efforts of Zimbabwe Youth, Arts and Recreation_Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire. The financial package amounts to US $64.000, and in the event of a win, the money will be shared equally among all the Warriors in the squad and the technical staff.

ZIFA noted that the World Cup Qualifiers are also important in the preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations to be played in Cameroon in January 2022, so the Warriors need to be at their best level of motivation when participating in the matches. The package also comes at a time when the Warriors are without a win in their last fourteen competitive encounters, and it will definitely help in motivating the team to achieve a win.

Also, in the event of a win against Ethiopia, the 'national team' will have the money channelled in cash or into Nostro bank accounts for the individual recipients.

ZIFA and the Afcon fundraising team greatly thanked the Hon. T Machakaire, 'the stakeholders', and the government in showing support for the national team and are hopeful of great achievements on the backdrop of such kind of support.

Zimbabwe are placed in Goup G of the World Cup Qualification Groups, with other teams, South Africa, Ghana, (and Ethiopia).

The Warriors are currently tied with South Africa on second position in the group after Ghana and have a single point from the match against South Africa.

The match against Ethiopia will be played in Bahir Dar (Ethiopia) and it starts at 3 PM (Central African Time).
