Jaure Demoted: Meet The Captain Of Local Warriors At CHAN 2021

Although Warriors Zdravko Logarusic hid his the Warriors captain's identity for the nearing, African Nations Championship finals, the media has worked around to discover who will be leading in the glory hunt.

The Africa's second biggest soccer tournament kicks off on Saturday, and the Warriors are in Cameroon to take part in the opening match against host nation Cameroon (Saturday, 20:00 CAT).

The usual lead for the 'local Warriors' is Patson Jaure but the new coach seems have changed things around a bit for the upcoming finals, dropping the fullback to the second position in the leadership roles, putting ahead of him someone of a 'near experience' to him.

It has been discovered that former ZPC Kariba and FC Platinum player, Ian Nekati, will be captaining Zimbabwe at CHAN.

In a statement, a reliable secret source said to the media:

"Ian Nekati is the new captain and he will be deputised by Jaure (Patson).

"We are raring to go and we believe the team will give its best shot despite some shoddy preparations caused by Covid-19," he said.

Team coach Logurusic had earlier on said  he wouldn't rush to pick a captain. We still have a lot of work to do and we are still assessing the players' leadership qualities," he said.

Ian Nekati presumably has been picked for experience in the Africa Cup of Nations  qualifiers (being one of the players picked from the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League) against international options.

Besides Nekati being a good player, Logarusic had praised the man for being knowledgeable of playing in 'Africa's big tournaments'.

Also from the coache's earlier remarks, Jaure might have landed the role of vice-captain for his experience as team captain.
