Kamambo
and Machana each showed up in court on charges of breaking the Postal
and Telecommunications Act, after sending the “annoying” messages
to Phillip Chiyangwa on November, 19.
One
of the message believed to have led to the arrests reads:
‘Hie
President. You are urged to stop your funny and negative
interferences with football meanwhile urgently start accounting for
all Zifa money you stole.’
Mrs
Victoria Mashamba, a Harare magistrate who was in charge of the case,
freed Kamambo and Machana on a $500 bail each, ordering the two
to stop sending text messages to Chiyangwa, to continue staying at
their given addresses, and not to meddle with the case witnesses.
Kamambo
and Machana will be back in court on 9 January, in 2020, and up until
the court date, the
two
are
supposed to report
once a week at their nearest police stations.
