The Zimbabwe
Warriors technical manager Wellington Mpandare has lamented the
injury of striker Tinotenda Kadewere which came just at the brink of
crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifying matches against
Zambia and Botswana starting on the 15th of this November.
Wellington Mpandare spoke to the Standard-Sport on Saturday saying that the coach Joey Antipas will decide if he wants to find a replacement for Tinotenda Kadewere in the Zimbabwe Warriors 24-man squad named for the Afcon Qualifiers.
“It’s a big blow, he’s been scoring lots of goals in France and obviously, the coach would have wanted him for the upcoming matches”.
“Remember he missed the World Cup qualifier against Somalia and he was looking forward to the upcoming matches because it would have been the first time for him to be playing under coach Joey (Antipas)”.
“He is obviously disappointed and it’s a big blow for us. We will discuss with the coach to see if he wants a replacement or we continue with those 23 players”. Source: Pindula.
Tinotenda Kadewere currently plays for French Ligue 2 side, Le Havre.
Zimbabwe is Group H of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021 Qualifiers, which is made up of Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Warriors play the first match of the Afcon Qualifiers against Botswana on 15 November at the National Sports Stadium. And the second match will be against Zambia.
