The
Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has said that the steps to get
Macauley Bonne a Zimbabwean passport were now at an advanced stage
after the Zimbabwe Sports Minister, Kirsty Coventry chipped in to
help.
The
England-based, Zimbabwe Warriors striker, who plays for English
Championship side, Charlton Athletic, was born in England to
Zimbabwean parents and he has opted to play for Zimbabwe.

The
topic has been ongoing since the start of 2019, ahead of the Africa
Cup of Nations Tournament hosted in Egypt.
The
draw to Bonne’s acquiring of a passport has been that, new
Zimbabwean laws demand that he has to renounce his British
citizenship first if he has to get a Zimbabwean passport.
Zimbabwe
Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare spoke to the news media in
an
interview,
saying
that he was positive
of
good results
soon.
‘We
have received support from the Minister of Sport (Kirsty Coventry),
and we have taken the documents where they are supposed to be, and we
are confident that something will happen in the coming days.’ said
Mpandare.
Macauley
Bonne
was named in the Warriors provisional squad for the 2021 Total Africa
Cup of Nations Qualifiers to
be played
in
November.
