Current FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza confirmed to the media that he was approached by ZIFA for the Warriors job but he refused citing a debt he's owed by the Football Association.
The Zimbabwe Warriors were without a coach and searching for one, following the disastarous Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon 2019) campaign in Egypt until last week when Chicken Inn's coach, Joey Antipas was appointed head coach of the team.
Mapeza said to the sports news media;
“The guys from ZIFA phoned me some three weeks ago asking about my availability for the national team and. I told them I was available just like I was the last time when I was called upon to take care of the game against Liberia,’’ said Mapeza.
Mapeza also revelead why negotiations did not go far.
‘’I told them to, at least, pay me even a quarter of the money they owe me since 2012 and they promised to call back and that was the end of story.’’ he said.
Norman Mapeza's, FC Platinum, currently leads the log table in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League on thirty-five points.
