Erol Akbay - 'the sacking of the players affects my strategy' - Ngezi Platinum

Liberty Chakoroma and Simba Nhivi were fired by Ngezi Platinum because of leading a salary-strike which occurred at the club earlier in May and coach Erol Akbay is not happy with the club's decision.

Simba Nhivi and Liberty Chakoroma (team captain then) were said to have led in laying out conditions for Ngezi Platinum to meet or else players would not train and fullfil the fixture against TelOne (in Round 6 of the Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League).

Ngezi Players wanted, their salaries paid in (US) dollars and not in Zimbabwe's RTGS$, or to be raised, and also a review of their allowances.

Coach Erol Akbay said the sacking of the two senior players by Ngezi's technical board 'has' affected his strategy in the field as the two were key players in the team's first XI:

The Herald, Interview of Erol Akbay on the issue;

"Definitely (the sacking of the players affects my strategy) because one of the players is a striker, one of the best strikers that we had.

“Of course, that means we lost a very big quality of our team and we hope those we have will do even better than what he has been doing. If you get another player now it will take time before he understands what you want. It’s very bad we are missing some of these players.

“Chakoroma was one of the leaders and also a very easy guy to work with. He was very good and very influential in our team and as a leader we are losing a very big guy.’’
