Egyptian side Zamalek Crowned 2018/19 Total Caf Confederation Cup Champions - RSB Berkane lose





Egyptian Premier League football club, Zamalek SC, are the 2018/19 Champions of the Total Caf Confederation Cup after beating Renaissance Sportive Berkane (Morocco) 5 - 3 on penalties in the cup final played yesterday, Sunday 26, May (2019).

The second leg of the final was played in Egypt at Zamalek's home stadium in Cairo, Al-Qāhira Al-Dawly, after the first leg had ended with RSB Berkane winning 1 : 0 from a 94th minute goal by K. Laba.

In the second leg, Zamalek's Mahmoud Alaa scored through a penalty in the 55th minute to make the aggregate 1 : 1 and the match got to the penalties where it ended in the 5 - 3 win.

Zamalek will receive an amount of US$1.25 million for their Total Confederation Cup prize money, while runners-ups of the cup, RSB Berkane, will receive a prize of US$0.625 million.

Zamalek SC now await to see the winners of the Total Caf Champions League between Esperance (Tunisia) and Wydad Casablanca (Morocco)  to play in the CAF Super Cup to determine the ultimate champion of the 2018/19 African Footballing Season.

Es Tunis vs Wydad will be played on 31 May (2019).

The Champions of the Caf Super Cup will then go on to participate in the Club World Cup Championship.
