Reports: Zimbabwe Warriors Might Be Suspended From The COSAFA 2019 Tournament

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has been called for a disciplinary hearing to take place on 4 April (2019) by the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA).

The reason for the hearing is ZIFA's 'refusal' in February to host the COSAFA Senior Tournament 2019. ZIFA failed to gain government's approval to go ahead with the hosting of the tournament.

COSAFA 2019 Tournament is set to take part between May 19 and June 1 (2019).

Sue Destombes COSAFA secretary-general said on Sunday, ZIFA broke the hosting agreement existing between COSAFA & ZIFA:

“ZIFA management committed to presenting to COSAFA written confirmation of this decision no later than March 25.

“Unfortunately they failed to deliver on the nominated deadline which has left COSAFA with no recourse other than to enforce their Disciplinary procedures, which calls for ZIFA to attend a Disciplinary Hearing scheduled for April 4 in Johannesburg.

“The hearing will be handled by COSAFA’s independent judicial body, and the outcome and action will be handed down within 48 hours of the hearing.”
