It's over for FC Platinum in the Total Champions League - After away defeat by Horoya AC in Guinea

FC Platinum FC had travelled to Guinea in the hopes of keeping their last 8 qualification in the Total-Caf Champions League, but the defeat by Horoya AC today dealt a big blow to their hopes of next round qualification, and now the Zvishane side have little left to play for in the competition - maybe a goal in the competition as they are yet to score in  the group matches.

FC Platinum remain at the bottom of the Group B of the Total-Caf Champions League 2018-19 having only managed a single draw against South Africa's Orlando Pirates at home at the Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo, and getting thumped in 3 successive matches both home and away.

In the match yesterday, Horoya AC grabbed their goals in the 58th minute and the 79th through their players, Mandela, and Hudu respectively, and the win put Horoya AC on position 2 in the Group B of the Champions League.

The result means that Horoya AC are now at 7 points in the group, which is the maximum number of points that Norman Mapeza's FC Platinum can attain from their remaining matches including the single point already in their hands. Even if Zimbabwe's FC Platinum win their two remaining matches against Orlando Pirates and Esperance (Tunisia) they'l have to depend on goal margins given they're able to overpower the two giants emphatically to surpass Horoya AC which still has 2 matches to play. It's already impossible for FC Platinum to catch up ES Tunis which is on 8 points in the group.

Coach Norman Mapeza said on the loss:

"We made two mistakes and got punished. At this level [in the Champions League] you cannot afford to make such mistakes"

"It's a learning curve for us, and now we have to make sure that we do our best in the last two games."

Total-Caf Champions League Group B standing:

1 Esperance  8
2 Horoya 7
3 Orlando 5
4 FC Platinum 1

FC Platinum in their next match will travel to South Africa to face 3rd placed Orlando Pirates FC on the 8th of March, and in their last match of the group stage will play Es Tunis at home at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.
