Chinese Super League News: Nigeria's Obi Mikel set to be left with no club after termination of Tianjin Teda contract

Nigerian Soccer Star, Obi Mikel will be looking forward to join a new club after he technically left Tianjin Teda on a mutual agreement to terminate his 3-year agreement with the club. Tianjin Teda is Mikel's third professional club of the three he has played for, the other teams are Lyn Oslo, and Chelsea.

Obi Mikel leaves Tianjin Teda after making only 31 match appearances for the side, much of his time at the club, according to reports was spent on the sidelines due to persistent injuries.

Obi Mikel's agent, CSM Sport & Entertainment, is likely set to look for a new club for the player whom, from the look of things has reached his career twilight. And the 'club search' also comes at a time when the 'Defensive Midfielder's' market value has dropped by €7.5 million, from €11 million which Tianjin Teda signed him for from Chelsea. So, football clubs looking to attain his signature will reportedly do so at only €3.5 million.

Meanwhile, Mikel is unsure of his next destination for the next team, but likely his options are tied to European Clubs, and China in the Chinese Super League.

"As for my next stop, I am not sure yet, maybe I will return to Europe, maybe stay in China," Mikel told the media in China.

However, regarding the national team, with his current circumstance of not having a club, there might still be a doorway for Obi Mikel to play for the Super Eagles (Nigeria), although his last appearace was at the World Cup 2018 & there had been negative rumours regarding his future with the national team. "With Mikel you cannot say when and if he will be returning to the team now," said Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr.

Obi Mikel has also in the past found himself without a club and searching, so the experience won't be new to him.
