The 2018 54th edition of the Total CAF Champions League is coming to a close, there only four teams now remaining out the 32 picked out of Africa’s premier leagues, and they’ll lock horns in the semi-finals. Al Ahly Cairo, Es Setif, Primeiro de Agosto, and Esperance Tunis are the teams that managed to make it to the closing rounds of the tournament.

Al Ahly edged past Guinea’s, Horoya, on a 4-0 aggregate score-drawing 0-0in the first match away, and cruising past Horoya’s keeper 4 times in Cairo at the Army Stadium, Algeria’s ES Setif won 1-0 in their first leg against Wydad Athletic Club and went on to draw 0-0 in the away match, Premeiro de Agosto went past one of Africa’s most feared clubs in this year’s competition last 8, TP Mazembe, drew 0-0 in Angola and went on to win on the TOTAL CAF Champions League Away-Goals-Rule after holding TP Mazembe in the away game in Congo to a 1-1 draw, and Esperance Tunis won 2 -1 in their first leg at home against Etoile Sportive du Sahel, also winning the second leg away 1-0.

Statistically, in performance form, all the teams remaining in the competition seem to be doing well in their domestic leagues and other competitions, only a single match out of their combined last 20 matches was lost. Al Ahly has had a pretty good run in their five last matches in all competitions, their form (W-Win; L-Lost; D-Draw) is a follows, W-D-D-W-W, and their opponent, Algeria’s ES Setif lost a single match in their last 5 matches, drew 2, and won 2 L-D-D-W-W, on the teams in the other match, Premeira de Agosto drew 4 of their last 6 matches, winning 2 andhaving an average of 0.88 goals per match, their opponent Esperance has won three matches out of 5 and drew the other 2.
